Attractive Subfamilies of BLS Curves for Implementing High-Security Pairings

چکیده
Barreto-Lynn-Scott (BLS) curves are a stand-out candidate for implementing high-security pairings. This paper shows that particular choices of the pairing-friendly search parameter give rise to four subfamilies of BLS curves, all of which offer highly efficient and implementationfriendly pairing instantiations. Curves from these particular subfamilies are defined over prime fields that support very efficient towering options for the full extension field. The coefficients for a specific curve and its correct twist are automatically determined without any computational effort. The choice of an extremely sparse search parameter is immediately reflected by a highly efficient optimal ate Miller loop and final exponentiation. As a resource for implementors, we give a list with examples of implementation-friendly BLS curves through several high-security levels.

Implementing Pairings at the 192-Bit Security Level
We implement asymmetric pairings derived from KachisaSchaefer-Scott (KSS), Barreto-Naehrig (BN), and Barreto-Lynn-Scott (BLS) elliptic curves at the 192-bit security level. Somewhat surprisingly, we find pairings derived from BLS curves with embedding degree 12 to be the fastest for our serial as well as our parallel implementations. Our serial implementations provide a factor-3 speedup over th...
متن کاملOn the Computation of the Optimal Ate Pairing at the 192-bit Security Level
Barreto, Lynn and Scott elliptic curves of embedding degree 12 denoted BLS12 have been proven to present fastest results on the implementation of pairings at the 192-bit security level [1]. The computation of pairings in general involves the execution of the Miller algorithm and the final exponentiation. In this paper, we improve the complexity of these two steps up to 8% by searching an approp...
متن کاملAn Efficient Signature Scheme from Bilinear Pairings and Its Applications
In Asiacrypt2001, Boneh, Lynn, and Shacham [8] proposed a short signature scheme (BLS scheme) using bilinear pairing on certain elliptic and hyperelliptic curves. Subsequently numerous cryptographic schemes based on BLS signature scheme were proposed. BLS short signature needs a special hash function [6, 1, 8]. This hash function is probabilistic and generally inefficient. In this paper, we pro...

Pairings are attractive and competitive cryptographic primitives for establishing various novel and powerful information security schemes. This paper presents a flexible and high-performance processor for cryptographic pairings over pairing-friendly curves at high security levels. In this design, hardware for Fp2 arithmetic is optimized to accelerate the pairing computation, and especially a co...
متن کاملOn Pairing-Based Signature and Aggregate Signature Schemes
In 2001, Boneh, Lynn, and Shacham presented a pairing-based signature scheme known as the BLS signature scheme. In 2003, Boneh, Gentry, Lynn, and Shacham presented the first aggregate signature scheme called the BGLS aggregate signature scheme. The BGLS scheme allows for N users with N signatures to combine their signatures into a single signature. The size of the resulting signature is indepen...
